How Is Microneedling Performed?
A microneedling treatment is performed in a private treatment room and takes about 30 – 60 minutes to complete. Local anesthesia or numbing cream may be used if requested; however, patients typically report mild or no discomfort. The areas of skin being addressed will be cleaned before the microneedling handpiece is passed evenly over the treatment areas. After the microneedling is complete, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or a vitamin-infused serum may be applied so the nutrients can penetrate deeper into the skin. A moisturizer selected for your skin type will be massaged in, as well as sun protection since your skin will be more sensitive after the procedure.

How much does microneedling cost?
In your consultation, Dr. Anwar will perform a skin analysis and then create your unique treatment plan. From there, he will discuss your costs and the procedure. Modern Aesthetics often offers specials on skin treatment packages, so make sure to ask about current deals during your appointment.
Can I combine other treatments with microneedling?
In the microneedling process, channels are created that help other treatments to reach the deeper layers. That's why microneedling is commonly combined with other treatments, such as vitamin-rich serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma). Microneedling plus PRP is more commonly known as the vampire facial. During your consultation, Dr. Anwar can explain what treatments may be performed along with microneedling and which would most benefit your skin.
How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?
Typically, patients get 3 – 6 microneedling treatments to see their best results. Although, how many sessions you need will depend on the condition of your skin and your goals. Microneedling can be done every 4 – 6 weeks. In your consultation, Dr. Anwar will estimate the number of treatments you will need after assessing your skin and listening to your goals. When you have reached your goal, Dr. Anwar recommends getting touch-up treatments about twice a year.
